The RailCats look for their fourth straight win as the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks visit U. S. Steel Yard
EXTRA INNING KINGS
The RailCats made it three in a row over the North Division leading St. Paul Saints by recording a 5-4 victory in 11 innings on Sunday afternoon. The contest marked the eighth extra-inning affair of the season. The RailCats are 6-2 in extra innings and have played 16 one-run contests (10-6), both of which lead the American Association. The win also marked the ninth in the last 10 at U. S. Steel Yard. St. Paul opened the scoring for the first time in the series with a first inning run. The RailCats responded with four unanswered to grab a 4-1 lead before St. Paul battled back, tying the game on a solo homer from first baseman Jason Cooper in the eighth. Both teams had opportunities before Cristian Guerrero won the game with a single in the 11th, knocking home Adam Klein with the winning run. The walk-off win marked the fifth of the season for the RailCats and the fourth in the last seven games at U. S. Steel Yard. Guerrero has posted two walk-off hits. Eight batters posted a hit as the RailCats mustered 14 in the victory. The ‘Cats have posted 10+ hits in five of the last seven contests to up the team batting average to .273, the highest clip of the year since the opening series. Brian Grening earned the win for the second straight night, tossing the 11th to improve to 3-1. The RailCats used seven pitchers in the game including starter Jack Frawley.
Adam Klein brings a season high seven-game hitting streak into play tonight at U. S. Steel Yard. Klein recorded four hits in the win on Sunday, matching the most this year by a RailCat hitter. Klein drove home the second run of the game with a single in the third, singled and scored in the fifth, and added singles in the ninth and 11th. Klein has posted at least one
RBI in the last five games of the streak for a total of eight, increasing his season total to 18. The second year RailCat has registered 19 hits during the streak, upping his average from a season low .217 following an 0-for-17 streak to a season high .302, second on the team. The leadoff man has posted multi-hit games in six of the seven games including five straight. Klein is batting .583 over the last five games and picked up 11 hits in the St. Paul series.
BOYS OF THE BULLPEN
The RailCats used six relievers in Sunday’s victory. Only Travis Minix did not appear in the game. Will Krout and Jeremy Hauer appeared for the third consecutive game in the series with Hauer posting the first out of the ninth and Krout the final two of the inning. Hauer and Krout have both been unscored upon during the month of June. Hauer owns a 1.76 ERA and
Krout leads the team with a 1.07 mark. Krout’s scoreless streak dates to May 25 and spans 15.2 innings, the longest this year by a RailCat pitcher. Hauer’s streak dates to May 19 and currently stands at 12 innings and includes a spot start. Zeb Engle was activated from the disabled list on Sunday to pitch for the first time since June 10 and was called on first out of
the pen, leaving the tying run on base in the sixth and recording two outs in the seventh for an inning of work to go with two strikeouts. The bullpen owns a cumulative ERA of 3.04 this season in 139.1 innings of work.

Nicholson makes his second consecutive start against Fargo-Moorhead in his ninth start of the season. THe righty beat the RedHawks in his last outing.

Odle did not make it out of the fifth inning in his last start against the RailCats on Wednesday in Fargo.
