Krout Throws Four-Hit Shutout in 2-0 Win

GARY, Ind. - Will Krout delivered the RailCats first complete game shutout in over a year, blanking the Sioux City Explorers on four hits en route to a 2-0 victory. The win improved the RailCats record to 29-34. They have now won three games in a row and four of their last five. Ryan Babineau hit a one-out double in the fourth and scored on Chris Carrara's two-out RBI single to give the 'Cats a 2-0 advantage. That was all the scoring the RailCats would need in support of Krout’s gem. Krout allowed just four hits in the complete game, striking out four while walking one. He improved his record to 2-3 on the season and lowered his ERA to 3.31. It was the second complete game of the year for the RailCats and the first to go nine innings. Kyle Wilson threw a six-inning complete game on June 30th in Sioux Falls as part of a doubleheader. The previous long outing of the season for a RailCats starter overall was 7 2/3 innings. The RailCats last complete game shutout came on July 16, 2011 when Scott Shaw blanked Shreveport-Bossier. Game two of the series will be on Wednesday night at 7:10 and it will be Wing it Wednesday at U. S. Steel Yard. Wings will be available for 50 cents in the Diamond Club. The RailCats starting pitcher is to be announced. |
