GARY, Ind. — America is the “land of the free and the home of the brave”—some of whom are brave enough to sing the National Anthem live in front of thousands of fans at a RailCats game. Those courageous crooners will first have to win the approval of the judges at the RailCats National Anthem auditions on Friday, April 20 or Saturday, April 21.
Tryouts will be held in the Diamond Club at U. S. Steel Yard and those trying out may do so on either Friday between 2:30 and 6 p.m. or Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Singers will perform a cappella and the RailCats are looking for performers who can sing either the “Star-Spangled Banner”, “O Canada”, or both anthems.
The judges will rival those from any reality TV show and will be looking to fill up to 40 spots to perform during RailCats home games. There is no need to sign up, singers are asked to arrive in person during either audition time and only need to appear on one of the days. Singers who sound anything like Kelly Clarkson, Whitney Houston or Marvin Gaye will certainly have an advantage over the competition.
The RailCats will open the 2012 season on May 17, with the Home Opener on Friday, May 25 at 7:10 p.m. against the Wichita Wingnuts at U. S. Steel Yard.
