Adam Quintana joins the RailCats for his first season in the American Association and his second in independent baseball. Quintana spent the 2017 campaign pitching for the Lake Erie Crushers in the Frontier League, where he was 4-4 with a 4.37 ERA in 10 starts. He pitched 55.2 innings, allowing 51 hits and 24 walks, while fanning 50 hitters.
In 2016, Quintana pitched for the High Desert Mavericks (High-A) in the Texas Rangers organization, going 8-4 with a 4.34 ERA in 27 games (15 starts). He struck out 99 batters and walked 51 over 101.2 innings. He began his pro career in 2015, signing with the Rangers on August 2, 2015 as an undrafted free agent. He pitch in 9 games (1 start) spanning the Rookie, Single-A, and Double-A levels, posting a combined 2.00 ERA while fanning 39 hitters over 27 innings.
Quintana is a native of Highland, California and pitched collegiately at Peru State in Nebraska, where he was a teammate of fellow RailCat Randy Santiesteban.
