Pinales returns to the RailCats in 2017 after finishing the 2016 season 0-3 with a 9.48 ERA in five games (two starts) for Gary. Prior to signing with Gary, Pinales pitched for the Vallejo Admirals of the Pacific Association, finishing 1-1 with a save and a 2.11 ERA in nine games. Pinales signed with the Boston Red Sox in 2010 at the age of 18 out of Payo, DOR. The right-hander pitched in the Dominican Summer League for the first two years of his professional career before pitching for the Gulf Coast League Red Sox in 2012. In 16 appearances for the GCL Red Sox, Pinales went 4-1 with three saves and a 1.52 ERA in 16 relief outings. Pinales returned to the GCL in 2013, finishing 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA in three appearances before getting promoted to the New York Penn League (Class-A Short Season). In 13 relief appearances for Lowell, Pinales went 2-1 with a 2.67 ERA in 13 games. Pinales returned to Lowell in 2014, earning Mid-Season All-Star Honors. The right-hander tied for the league lead with 15 saves in 25 appearances. Pinales was promoted to Greenville (Lo-A) in 2015, finishing 5-4 with three saves in a career-high 74 innings.
