Jimmy Heck was acquired by the RailCats from the Florence Freedom of the Frontier League on Dec. 20, 2017, to complete an earlier trade between the two teams. Heck batted .258 with a home run, 24 RBIs, 36 runs and 10 stolen bases in 89 games for the Salina Stockade last season. Heck began his professional baseball career with the Tucson Saguaros of the PECOS League in 2016 following his senior season at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Heck won the PECOS League Championship with the Saguaros and hit .426 with 21 runs, 29 hits, seven doubles, two triples, four home runs, 13 extra-base hits, 24 RBIs and a stolen base in 18 games before getting traded to the Joliet Slammers of the Frontier League. Heck batted .313 with an RBI and a .450 on-base percentage in seven games with the Slammers.
