KANSAS CITY, KAN. – The Gary SouthShore RailCats have announced the signing of outfielder Joey Havrilak on Saturday. The 25-year-old most recently played in 2016 with the Detroit Tigers organization as he split time with Class A West Michigan and Short-Season A Connecticut where he recorded a .269 batting average with three home runs and 34 RBI. The Washington, PA native was selected in the 18th round of the 2015 MLB draft out of the University of Akron.
In a corresponding move, the RailCats have moved left-handed reliever Andy Roberts from the disabled list to the inactive list. Roberts is in his third season with Gary and has made four appearances in 2017 after re-signing with Gary on August 3. He has a 1-1 record while striking out three in 6.2 innings of work.
Gary continues their three-game series vs. Kansas City on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. Alex Gunn (7-4, 3.66) make his league-high-tying 21st start of the year for the RailCats while the T-Bones counter with right-hander Luis Paula (4-2, 3.55) in the middle game of the series.
