Elio Serrano heads to Gary for his first season with the team in 2022. Not only does this mark his first season in the MLB Partner League system, but it is also his first season in America east of the Mississippi River.

As a 17-year-old, Serrano signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers as an international free agent in 2016 and began pitching in their Dominican Summer League setup. After two years in the Dominican Republic, he made his way to the United States and quickly progressed to the High-A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes at just 19 years old. In 2021, Serrano got called up to Double-A and pitch for the Tulsa Drillers.

Throughout his five-year affiliated career, Serrano accumulated a career 10-7 record, a 3.22 ERA, 179:48 strikeout-to-walk ratio, 1.150 WHIP, and 24 saves in 90 appearances as both a reliever and starter.
