RailCats Bring in Catcher Caddell
Gary, IN – The Gary SouthShore RailCats have added another youthful piece to their catching corps as Seth Caddell has signed with the team.
Caddell, 24, makes his MLB Partner League and American Association debut in 2023 after spending three seasons in the Cleveland Guardians organization where he reached as high as the Triple-A Columbus Clippers.
A Carthage, North Carolina native, the young backstop signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Guardians following an impressive four-year college career at East Carolina University. He played in at least 35 games each season unaffected by COVID-19, capping off his time as a Pirate by putting together a campaign that earned him an American Baseball Coaches Association Second-Team All-Region selection. In 60 games, Caddell batted .270 while registering 14 home runs, 47 runs batted in, 53 hits, eight doubles, 47 runs scored, and a .526 slugging percentage.
In addition to his individual success, he played a key role in helping East Carolina to playoff appearances in each of his four seasons. Except for 2020, the Pirates won at least 44 games each year, securing the 2018 American Athletic Conference championship in the process. Additionally, they hosted a regional in the NCAA Tournament each season, advancing to the Super Regionals in 2019 and 2021.
The RailCats return home this weekend for a three-game series against the Lincoln Saltdogs. Tickets are available by visiting railcatsbaseball.com or calling 219-882-2255.
