Dominant Pitching Helps RailCats Dispatch DockHounds

Oconomowoc, WI – Though they only scored one run against the Lake Country DockHounds, Gary SouthShore RailCats pitching ensured that was all they needed as they powered the way towards a 1-0 win.

Harrison Francis and Jack Eisenbarger combined to hold the DockHounds offense to just five hits en route to their second shutout victory of the season.

After both starters exchanged zeros through the first three innings, the RailCats lineup sparked to life in the top of the fourth.  Michael Woodworth grounded a one-out single to left field and stole second base on the very next pitch.  Daniel Lingua picked him up with a single of his own to bring Woodworth home and provide the RailCats their only tally.

In his six innings, Francis made sure the lone run stood up.  He permitted just five hits and did not walk a single batter while striking out six DockHounds.  Even as Lake Country placed runners on base and applied pressure to the RailCats defense, he was at his best with the pressure on as he stranded four runners, including two in scoring position.

Eisenbarger took his place in the seventh inning and kept up the Gary SouthShore dominance on the mound.  In spite of DockHounds walks in each of his three frames, he kept his cool and made sure nobody got further than second base, striking out five batters as well to earn his second save of the year.

With the win, the RailCats have now racked up three straight against the American Association’s newest franchise as well as two in a row in Oconomowoc.  Additionally, they have allowed just three DockHounds runs over the span of the corresponding 28 innings.

Gary SouthShore looks to secure the series win tomorrow in Lake Country as they take to the field at Wisconsin Brewing Company Park at 6:45 p.m with Chris Erwin (0-1, 5.65 ERA) taking on Duncan Snider (2-1, 7.36 ERA).  All the action will be streamed on aabaseball.tv, 95.9 WEFM, and the Gary SouthShore RailCats Broadcast Network through the Mixlr app.
