(Gary, IN) Today the American Association of Professional Baseball announced on Monday August 24 that the week ending on August 23 that Marc Flores and Deyni Olivero were named Carbliss batter and pitcher of the week.
Marc Flores this week went 15-30(.500) with four doubles and four home runs, slugging at a 1.033 and an OPS of 1.579. For the RailCats DH he had two games with four-hits and another two where he had three and drove in 12 runners. Since Flores made his RailCats debut on June 19 he has led the team in RBIs and walks and the second highest OBP. He is the second RailCat to win the Carbliss batter of the week joining Elvis Peralta who won in May.
Deyni Olivero on August 20 threw 8.2 no-hit innings and did not allow his first baserunner until the 21st batter he faced where he walked Chance Sisco. Olivero would finish with the 11th complete shutout in RailCats history with the most recent coming from former two-time Carbliss pitcher of the week Peyton Long went the distance on July 2, 2025 against the Monarchs. Olivero would finish giving up two hits, one walk and matching his career-high in strikeouts as a RailCat with eight.
This is the first time in franchise history the RailCats have won a batter and pitcher of the week in the same week since joining the American Association in 2011. The RailCats are 36-50 and currently 3.5 games back of the final playoff spot. They will begin a nine-game homestand on Tuesday, August 25 against the Sioux City Explorers.
