Gary, IN – The Gary SouthShore RailCats have signed former Cleveland Guardians prospect Dorssys Paulino. 

Paulino, 28, spent seven seasons playing in the Cleveland Guardians organization. He signed as an international free agent in July of 2011. From 2012 to 2016 he spent time with the Guardians Rookie ball, Low-A, and High-A affiliates. 

He spent 2018 playing for the Double-A Akron RubberDucks and Triple-A Columbus Clippers. In 48 games he hit .194 with 28 hits including five doubles and four home runs.  

“Dorssys Paulino brings over 10 years of professional playing experience to the club and valuable veteran skill sets to our utility role,” said manager Lamarr Rogers. “He has the ability to play the outfield, short-stop, third base, or second base.” 

The right-hander spent the entire 2017 with the RubberDucks, playing in 94 games. He slashed .257/.349/.365. Defensively he had 163 putouts with only three errors for a .983 fielding percentage. 

 Born in Bani, Dominican Republic he has spent the last three seasons playing in the Dominican Republic. Additionally, he was invited to Major League camp with the Guardians during the 2011-2018 seasons. 

Rogers continued, “once a high-profile prospect with the Cleveland Guardians, he spent the last three seasons playing strictly in the Dominican Republic where trusted contacts shared his ability to excel. I’m excited to be a part of his return stateside as he comes to Gary with a chip on his shoulders and something to prove!”
