(Gary, IN) The Gary SouthShore RailCats agreed to deal with right-handed reliever Carlos Sanabria.

Sanabria signed as an international free agent with the Houston Astros and began his professional career in 2014. The reliever stayed in the minors until 2020 when he finally got his call-up and debuted against the Arizona Diamondbacks in August. After 2020, Sanabria worked in the Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers organizations.

Last year, the righty made his independent baseball debut when he signed with the Kansas City Monarchs. In his professional career, he has appeared in 196 games, logged 428.2 innings of work, struck out 426 batters, and has a career ERA of 4.07.

“Carlos is a veteran pitcher who has worked as both a starter and a reliever; he is a competitor who will keep a quick tempo and attack opposing hitters with various pitches.” Lamarr Rogers said. “I consider Sanabria a big signing to our team, and I’m excited to see what he’ll do this upcoming season.”

The RailCats 2024 season begins at the Steel Yard on Friday, May 17 vs Lake Country. Season tickets packages and group outings for the 2024 season can be reserved by calling 219-882-2255 or emailing mailto:[email protected]
