(Rosemont, IL) In the final series of the 2026 season, the Gary SouthShore RailCats returned to Impact Field in Rosemont to take on the Chicago Dogs. The RailCats lost the first game on a walk-off hit in extras from Jaylyn Williams. The RailCats started All-Star Peyton Long and went against Spencer Boynton make his starting debut. 

In the bottom of the third inning, Jacob Maiben singled and Ethan Wilder doubled in right center to bring in Maiben. Korry Howell tied the game in top of the fourth with an opposite field home run for his 18th on the season. 

The RailCats took the lead for the first time on a Nick Podkul single and Kevin Watson scored. The Dogs tied the game up with a Chance Sisco sacrifice fly to left field. It was 2-2 with five innings completed. 

The top of the sixth would become a long one for Gary. Elvis Peralta and Cole Yearsley slashed an RBI singles, then Justin O’Connor, Nick Podkul and Marc Flores had two-RBI hits to complete an eight-run rally in the sixth. The Dogs got two runs to chip into the ‘Cats lead 10-4. 

One more run would score for the RailCats in the top of the eighth with Flores picking up his third RBI. Long would surrender one more home run to Chance Sisco at the end of the game, but the RailCats won by a final of 11-6 from Impact. The RailCats record now sits at 40-57 with two more games to go on the season. 

Long made history with his complete game, tying Charlie Rosario with the most all-time in a RailCats uniform as he threw 104 pitches and struck out six Dogs. The third game of the series is played at 3:00 with Deyni Olivero going up against Andres Diaz. A livestream is available on AABaseball.TV.
