(Cleburne, TX) The Cleburne Railroaders took the first game of the series against the RailCats on Tuesday. The ‘Cats went back to La Moderna field for the second game of the series with LHP Dawson Lane going up against RHP Scott Ellis. Gary SouthShore entered 6.5 games back of the ‘Roaders for the final playoff spot in the East Division.
Korry Howell doubled to start the game and after he reached into scoring position, Marc Flores drove him in with a single into right field. In the top of the third inning, Elvis Peralta led off the frame with a solo home run; Kevin Watson crossed home on a wild pitch, and with Flores on-base Nick Podkul belted a home run for his fourteenth of the year. RailCats had a 5-0 lead.
Cleburne scored their only run in the bottom of the third on an infield single hit by Frankie Tostado bringing in Cody Thomas. With Justin O’Conner at third and Ozzie Martinez at second, Colin Summerhill laced a double into left center to bring two runs in. RailCats led 7-1.
Dawson Lane would put together eight innings allowing just one unearned run in the third and Will Kincanon would be called on to shut the door as the RailCats took the second game of the set 7-1.
The RailCats record goes to 30-46 and now go back 5.5 games of the Railroaders with four more games to go in the series. The Thursday pitching matchup will feature RHP Peyton Long going against RHP Aaron Mishoulam. First pitch is scheduled for 7:06 with a free live stream will be provided on AABaseball.TV.
