Andy Nelson is a 24-year-old from Arlington Heights, Illinois that attended Wheaton North High School. He was named the Dukane Conference Player of the Year in 2019 when he hit .451 with 11 doubles, seven triples, and seven home runs.

Nelson went to play college baseball at the University of Iowa and in 2024 he led the team in Home Runs with nine and was named to the Third-Team All-Big Ten. He signed his first pro contract out of college to join the Chicago Dogs in 2025 and made his pro debut against the RailCats where he recorded his first two professional hits.

Nelson would get signed by the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks and hit .290 for the Hawks in the final nine games. This year he started in Fargo hitting .270 with a .368 OBP and smacked two home runs and eight doubles before being traded to the RailCats for a PTBNL.
