Diaz’s first campaign with the RailCats was last year. Smacking 115 hits, stealing 37 bases, and finishing at a .319 average, Diaz was a large source of productivity for the Cats. His 37 stolen bases were a new record for the organization, moving past Billy Brown, who had 32 in 2003.

“Gio is a “Ball Player”! His ability to get on base, steal, and play multiple positions made him an asset to the team last season.” Gary Manager Lamarr Rogers said. “He ranked among the top hitters in the league, and from his calm but tenacious personality, I’d think he feels he has more to prove this season. I’m excited to welcome Gio back to the club.”
