Thomas Greely is back behind the plate as he makes a return trip to The Steel Yard in 2023.  Having made his professional debut last year, this marks his first full season in professional baseball.

Greely began his collegiate career at San Joaquin Delta College, where he hit .314 with 48 runs batted in and 63 runs scored in 85 games, earning a Golden Glove as a freshman in 2017 and making the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) All-Conference Team in both 2017 and 2018.  In addition to his individual accolades, his efforts helped propel the Mustangs to the 2018 CCCAA State Championship.

Greely parlayed his junior college success into a transfer to Long Beach State University, and he seamlessly transitioned to the Division I level.  Before the 2020 season was canceled due to COVID-19, he batted .333 (7-for-21) in 15 games, driving in two runs, compiling seven hits, and stealing one base.  As a senior in 2021, he helped the Dirtbags to a 28-15 record and a third-place finish in the Big West Conference.

Before signing with the RailCats last July, Greely played semi-professionally for Templiers de Sénart in France’s Division Élite.
