RailCats Bring Back Lubking

Gary, IN – The Gary SouthShore RailCats have signed left-handed pitcher Trevor Lubking for the 2022 season.

Lubking, 29, returns to Gary for his sixth season as a professional and his third with the RailCats. During the 2021 season the lefty appeared in 19 games, making 18 starts and finishing with a 5-9 record. His 117 strikeouts and 117 innings pitched were best on the team and seventh and fifth in the American Association respectively.

“Sometimes the best off-season moves are the ones when a player comes back for another year. This is the case with Trevor,” said RailCats manager Greg Tagert. “He has been an absolute workhorse for us the last 2 seasons, has the respect of the entire league and represents the RailCats organization in the highest regard. We’re thrilled to have him back.”

During the 2019 season, his first with the RailCats, Lubking started in all 24 appearances he made. He threw 139 innings and struck out 108 batters. Again, he finished among the league leaders in both categories.

The Tacoma, Washington native attended Pacific Lutheran University for four seasons. As a senior he went 6-2 in 12 starts and finished with a team high 111 strikeouts. He was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 14th round of the 2014 MLB June Amateur Draft.
