RailCats Bring Back Versatile Lingua 

Gary, IN – The Gary SouthShore RailCats have signed utility man Daniel Lingua. He returns to Gary after a promising rookie season. 

Lingua, 25 proved to be a versatile player playing in 89 games at every position except catcher and right-field. He led the team in numerous categories including, at-bats (313), hits (88), and walks (45). He also finished tied for first on the team for doubles (16) and triples (5) while finishing third with 37 runs scored. The switch hitter slashed .281/.380/.393. 

“Daniel was undoubtedly our most valuable player last year – his offense and ability to play multiple positions were a highlight for the RailCats 2021 season,” said manager Greg Tagert. “We’re looking for Daniel to continue his growth as an impactful player in 2022.” 

The Arlington, TX native attended Prairie View A&M University where he played for two seasons. During his senior year Lingua was named to the 2019 SWAC All-Tournament Team. He collected 144 career hits and a .380 batting average with 71 RBI as a Panther.
