(Gary, IN) RailCats Manager Lamarr Rogers adds to the 2024 roster by resigning outfielder Will Decker and veteran utility player Jacob Bockelie.

Decker is 29 years old and a native of Charlottesville, Virginia. The lefty stick is a four-year professional baseball player who started in the Pacific Association with the Martinez Clippers. Last season, he played in 26 games for the RailCats, slashing .288/.388/.409 with six doubles.

“Mr. Positivity” returns after joining the team late in the 2023 season.” Lamarr Rogers said. “Will is a great teammate and will do whatever he can for the team when called on, he’s a good vibe in both the locker room and dugout and understands his role with the team.”

Bockelie enters his fourth year in the American Association. On August 1st, he was acquired from the Winnipeg Goldeyes for RHP Matt Leon. The former Pacific Lutheran University standout has hit 19 home runs, driven in 84 runs, and smacked 24 two-baggers in 124 games in the AAPB.

“Jacob joined our team late in the 2023 season as a part of a trade.” Rogers said. “In a limited role, he showed the ability to come up with timely hits with runners in scoring position late in games; he also provides defensive flexibility with his ability to play first base, outfield & catcher. He’s a confident player and welcomed return to the team.”
