(Rosemont, IL) The Chicago Dogs hosted the Gary SouthShore RailCats for the fifth-straight game between the two clubs this week. The RailCats swept the Dogs with a combined score of 43-3 but lost the first game at Impact Field in a 3-1 game. Dominic Cancellieri faced off against Steven Lacey.
The RailCats wasted no time scoring three-runs in the first with Marc Flores singling in a run, Nick Podkul drove in a run on a fielder’s choice and Ozzie Martinez had a sacrifice fly. In the top of the fifth Justin O’Conner hit a home run for his first as a RailCat and Podkul hit crushed a grand slam for a five-run inning. RailCats led 8-0.
The Dogs would get their first run in the bottom of the second when Sam Biller had an infield single to score Nick Roselli. Gary SouthShore in the top of the third hit two three-run homers from Korry Howell and Elvis Peralta and the game had a 14-1 score.
In the bottom of the third, the Dogs scored six-runs with Zack Stokes and Jaylyn Williams had a couple of home runs and that would be the last inning for Cancellieri. The RailCats would score two runs in the top of the fourth and fifth. Tobin Moran shut down the Dogs allowing one unearned run for four innings. The RailCats led 18-8 after seven.
The RailCats would go on to win the game 19-11 against the Dogs to take their fourth win over the club this week. Cleburne dropped their game against the Milkmen and put the RailCats 3.5 games back for the final playoff spot. The RailCats are 36-49, and the Dogs are 28-58 with one more game to go on Sunday at 3:00. A livestream is available on AABaseball.TV.
