Redhawks Explode for 13-5 Win Over RailCats

FARGO, ND- In game one of a three-game set at Newman Outdoor Field on the campus of North Dakota State University, the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks (53-35) crushed three home runs to smother the Gary SouthShore in a 13-5 victory.

Jordan George, Sam Dexter, and John Silviano all blasted home runs in the win and collectively drove in nine runs, all of which in the fourth and fifth innings, to overpower the RailCats at the plate.

In the eighth spot of the order, Alex Boxwell would go 5-for-5 for the first time this season as the Redhawks bottom order made up of Silviano, Bowell and Dexter would combine for nine hits, seven runs, and six RBI.

Despite RailCats scoring two in the first frame on runs driven in by Ryan Cash and Ray Jones, Fargo would come back with a five-run bottom of the fourth.

Cash would deliver a team-best 3-for-5 day at the dish with two doubles and two runs scored.

The RailCats came back to cut the lead to 5-4 in the top of the fifth on a Jackson Smith two-out, two-RBI single, but just as the ‘Cats were in striking distance, Fargo took advantage of the comfortability.

In the ensuing half inning, Fargo-Moorhead would plate seven runs, six of which came before the first out of the inning was recorded.

Adam Heidenfelder ended his day with four innings, 13 hits, 12 runs, seven of which were earned, five walks, a strikeout, and a loss.

The win went to Redhawks’ starter Ryan Flores who threw five innings of four-run baseball with eight hits, four runs, three of which earned, a walk, and nine strikeouts for his fifth straight win.

Game two between the Gary SouthShore RailCats and the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks is scheduled for tomorrow, August 25 at 7:02 p.m. at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo, North Dakota.
