Coaching Background

Coach Matt has started his coaching career off in 2015 with Mchenry County College in Crystal Lake, IL. There he worked with the hitters and outfielders until summer of 2018. In that time span the Scots went 135-38. After Mchenry he went on to take an Assistant Coach position at his Alma Mater Chicago State University for the 2019 season also working with defense and hitting. After that season concluded, he took a manager job with the Kitchener Panthers of the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) in Ontario, Canada. Unfortunately, covid-19 had closed the border. Since 2020 Matt has been here with the Railcats as an assistant and now Hitting Coach for the upcoming 2021 season.

Coach Matt’s playing background includes two years at Mchenry County College where he earned All-Conference and All-Region Honors followed by 2 years at Chicago State University. There he earned First Team All-WAC honors in 2015. After college he played internationally in the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) of Ontario, Canada. His finally playing season started with the Welland Jackfish and a mid-season trade brought him back to the Guelph Royals to retire with the same team that initially signed him to the IBL.
