Trains Keeps Rolling, RailCats Take Series Over Railroaders

 

CLEBURNE, Texas- For the first time since June 25, the Gary SouthShore RailCats (26-38) have recording consecutive wins with a 9-7 victory over the Cleburne Railroaders (35-27) to take the series at the Depot at Cleburne Station in Cleburne, Texas. 

 

After the 7-1 thrashing in game one, the RailCats came back from five down to steal a series victory for the first time since July 11. 

 

The RailCats’ entered the fifth inning down 7-2, but a six-run frame gave the ‘Cats their first lead of the night as relief pitching shut down a powerful Railroader offense.

 

In his return to the RailCats pitching staff, Adam Heidenfelder earned the win with 4.2 innings of four-hit baseball, allowing just one run and three walks while he fanned four. 

 

The save went to Nick Garcia after he recorded a seven-out performance as he retired seven of the eight he faced in 2.1 innings of work. 

 

Railroaders’ starter Garrett Alexander suffered the loss with 4.1 innings on the mound, seven hits, seven runs, six walks, and six strikeouts.  

 

Three separate RailCats recorded three-hit days as Hayden Schilling went 3-for-3, Billy Cooke went 3-for-5 with two RBI, and MJ Rookard posted a 4-for-6 night in his second four-hit effort of the year. 

 

While the three-four punch for the Railroaders in Ramon Hernandez and Zach Nerir combined for a 7-for-10 night, Cleburne fell short and has now lost four of its last five. 

 

Game three between the Gary SouthShore RailCats and the Cleburne Railroaders is scheduled for tomorrow, July 29 at 7:06 p.m. as the RailCats go for their first sweep of the season at the Depot at Cleburne Station in Cleburne, Texas.
