(Gary, IN) Back at home after 10-straight road games, the RailCats were back at the Steel Yard to finish out the 2024 season against the Chicago Dogs. Having lost five-straight games, the ‘Cats looked to snap their losing streak with the young right-hander, Andres Diaz facing the former Monarch, Connor Curlis.

The two teams remained scoreless through the first couple of innings. In the top of the third, Jacob Teter doubled himself and Zion Pettigrew into scoring position for Brantley Bell. On a 1-1 pitch, Bell singled into left field and the Dogs scored two runs and took a two-run lead.

That would be the only blemish on Diaz for the rest of the game. He would carry the ‘Cats into the eighth inning going 7.2 innings and struck out seven. Josh Smith would come in and surrender a home run to Jacob Teter for his 26th on the season.

Joey Marciano would go two innings and record a save and finish the night striking out Howard Rodriguez and turn in a final of 3-0. Sending the Chicago Dogs to the 2024 postseason. Tomorrow’s game is a 4:00 start with a matchup of Peyton Long going for Gary SouthShore, Brady Miller will be getting the ball for Chicago.
